It aimed at giving free and compulsory education to the children between 6-12 yrs. The program was started by former prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee. The Right to Education Act came into force on 1 April 2010 and educationists believed it was a great push for the Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan. The funding was done by the government providing Rs.21,000 crore for the program and was funded by many trusts as well when it became popular. But the real question is, were all the efforts worth it? Have we been able to reach all the children and provide them the basic education?   The answer would be a no because even after so muc h funding the  Abhiyan is quite a fail as 40% of the children drop out.
