Rapid Urbanisation Is Leading To Rapid Decimation Of Wetlands  (By Sravani Gokaraju )   Image By:- Goutham Sagar Cities have always been places of growth, innovation, and learning for a long time. It is the people living in these cities that lead to most of that country's GDP. People from villages and towns come to major cities in search of jobs and for education, leading to cities having a vast population. This rapid shift of people from towns and villages to cities is called rapid urbanization. Other reasons for an increase in urbanization include the presence of an explosion of industrialization and manufacturing enterprises, better living standards, modernization in cities and to avoid political turmoil like war, etc. that usually happen in the developing areas.   The vast number of people shifting from villages and towns will require more space for their accommodation. Also, people living in cities always expect more and more development. All of this is resulting in expanding

Food. Feed. Fibre - Resolution To Combat Global Desertification  (By Sravani Gokaraju )   Image By:-Goutham Sagar Food, shelter, and clothes are three basic essentials needed by a human to survive from their birth to death. But in order to cater to the needs of the growing population, fertile lands are being destroyed, leading to desertification.   Desertification is the process of continuous degradation of dryland ecosystems due to climate variations and human activities. It is happening vastly all over the world and it is a serious issue. Topsoil, groundwater reserves, surface run-off, human, animal, and plant populations are all affected by desertification. It also increases the possibility of unpredictable natural calamities such as stronger flash floods, dust slides, and sand storms.   There are many causes of desertification. But one of the main causes is overpopulation. Overpopulation has resulted in an increase in the demand for food, clothing, and shelter. So to meet these ne

The Growing Radicalization in the Country is Threatening India's Democracy and it's Constitution?  (By Sravani Gokaraju)   Image By:- Goutham Sagar In recent years, the world has been seeing many times, how extreme violence is taking the lives of many innocent people. Whether for religious, political or social reasons, radicals have been seeking violence to get what they want, especially in India. The growing radicalization in the country is threatening India's Democracy and it's Constitution. Before we dive deeper into this topic, I want to first explain what radicalization and democracy are.     Democracy is a form of government in which the citizens of that country have the right and authority to choose and elect their governing legislation. Direct and representative are the two types of democracies. In a direct democracy, people directly decide and elect on the legislature. In a representative democracy, people elect representatives who then decide on the legislatu

Conservative Thinking of Indians are Responsible for Rising Intolerance in Country?

Conservative Thinking of Indians are Responsible for Rising Intolerance in Country?  (By Sravani Gokaraju )   Image By:- Darshika Singh People always change with time. As time passes and new generations are born, society changes. People evolve. The beliefs and practices which at one point seemed right might not seem necessary, relevant, or even fair today. The newer generations stopped believing blindly in what our ancestors followed and are replacing it with logic. People are trying to be fair, inclusive, and welcoming, irrespective of a person's background.   Having said that, there are also some people who are still conservative. A person is said to be conservative if they still follow old principles, actions, and habits. They resist change. They are reluctant to accept new changes and ideas and like to follow their traditional habits and thought processes.   India is a country filled with people of all cultures and backgrounds. It is filled with people of all income levels. I

STRUGGLES OF LGBTQ+ COMMUNITY IN INDIA

Image
STRUGGLES OF LGBTQ+ COMMUNITY IN INDIA ( By Sravani Gokaraju )   Image By:- Goutham Sagar Just like how a person is categorized based on gender, he or she is also categorized based on his/her sexual orientation. Sexual orientation is the identity of a person in relation to the gender to which he/she is attracted to. Sexual orientation is something you are already born with. Some people find out their sexual orientation over time but it's not something that can change over a period of time.   The so-called "normal" that society has created and believed up until many years ago is to be heterosexual. There was no other orientation, not because everyone was heterosexual, but because the society made it seem like there is no other orientation, making others who don't fit in it, feel like something is wrong with them. Heterosexuality is one of the sexual orientations a human associates with, where a person is attracted to the opposite sex. A man is attracted to a woman and

Digital Education a Disaster Towards Classroom Teaching?

Image
Digital Education a Disaster Towards Classroom Teaching? ( By Sravani Gokaraju ) Image By:- Graphics (LDL) The education system has always been evolving, especially in India. In the olden days, the disciples or students would go to their teacher's house called gurukulam. They would stay at the gurukulam with their teacher until their education is completed and only then, return to their houses. After many years, a new education system came into place. This is where the students and teachers would all go to a school. Different students of the same age would sit in a classroom where one teacher after another would come and teach their subject for an allotted time. Students go back home after studying for around 7-10 hours a day in school. This is the traditional classroom education. This kind of education is what, till date, still followed everywhere. Since the past few years, technology has been evolving and becoming more advanced than ever, and schools and colleges are finding ways

Is Military Expenditure more needed than Investing in Education in India

Image
Is Military Expenditure more needed than Investing in Education in India ( by Sravani Gokaraju  ) An American General, Douglas MacArthur once said that "Whoever said the pen is mightier than the sword obviously never encountered automatic weapons.” A country that has a weak military system automatically falls prey to every other country. Granted, education is important. In fact, that is the only possible way to ensure that there will be peace in the future. But the citizens of just one country being educated will not suffice it. Even if we Indians do not start a war, another country that sees our weak military system might. Then all this education will not save us from those wars. Under various articles of the Indian Constitution, free and compulsory education is provided as a fundamental right to the children between the ages of 6 and 14. Education in India is made is provided by public and private schools. Public schools are aided by the central and state governments. India is m

Yoga - India's Prized Possession

Image
Yoga - India's Prized Possession ( by Sravani Gokaraju  ) India is known for its philosophies and practices that have dated way back to around 2000-3000 BCE . One of the prominent ones during that time is the Vedic literature. It talks about many practices like Ayurveda, etc. which are effectively used to date. They heal problems that sometimes even allopathy can't solve. Another practice that originated even before the Vedic literature was scripted is yoga. Yoga leads to the union of individual consciousness with that of the Universal Consciousness, indicating a perfect harmony between the mind and body, Man & Nature. It's said to be dated back to possibly the Indus valley civilization around 3000 BCE . Though a few texts describing yoga is unclear, The Yoga Sutras of Patanjali dating from the 2nd century BCE gained prominence in the 20th century after being first introduced by Swami Vivekananda. Following the success of Swami Vivekananda in the late 19th and early 20t

Global Environment Problems Have No National Solutions

Image
Global Environment Problems Have No National Solutions ( by Sravani Gokaraju ) Since many years, the entire world has been facing various environmental problems. Technology development, overpopulation to the extent where more forests are being cut down to accommodate people and their needs, and human’s greediness and selfishness are the main reasons why the environment is deteriorating every day. Temperatures rising, waste disposal, global warming, ozone layer depletion, pollution, deforestation, loss of biodiversity, natural resources depletion, over population and many more are all part of the environmental problems that the entire world is facing. These problems not only affect humans but also all the flora and fauna of the world. If the rate at which these problems are increasing now goes on, it is not too long before they get to a level that is beyond repair. There has been a prediction that the global temperatures are going to rise somewhere between 2.5 to 10 Fahrenheit in the ne

Child Labour Law

Child Labour Law - We Have Once Again Failed Our Children  ( by Sravani Gokaraju ) Today's children are tomorrow's future. Children need to be educated so that they have a better future, leading to a better and prosperous society at large. They are the ones who will be in high positions tomorrow, ruling the nation in all fields. Education empowers them to have a better standard of living. Education could be the ticket to get their family and their upcoming generations out of poverty.  But a lot of poor people cannot afford good education for their kids. They also are not willing to send their children to study. They would rather prefer them to work and help their family financially, from a young age. Since children avoid getting educated, they end up doing menial work that pays them less from a very young age.  To avoid this, the Parliament of India and Ministry of Labour and Employment introduced a law in 1986. This law is called the Child and Adolescent Labour Act. It states
