Discrimination based on skin Color:

It is also known as colorism. It is a form of discrimination, in that people who are members of the same race are treated differently based on the social impacts which come under cultural meaning which is known as skin color.

The people who think about racism, can usually think it is the only way and commit against people who are outside their ethnicity. Persons who are members of different ethnic groups are highlighting the colorism biases as well as biases that increase the members of the same ethnic group. They believe that the person with a lighter complexion is considered as beautiful than the dark skin people. Research has found that discrimination based on skin color is a business, housing, health care, and politics in the U.S. and European countries. Lighter skin tone is preferred in many countries like Africa, South America, and Asia.

In the North American and European labor markets, several meta-analyses find that expensive evidence of ethical and racial discrimination is more. In the hiring process of Europe and North America, there is extensive racial discrimination. 738 correspondences tests are conducted in 2016 in that 43 separate studies were conducted in OECD countries in the year 1990 to 2015. The Majority of candidates are invited for an interview where the equivalent minority candidates need to send around 50% more applications.

Recent research finds that the socioeconomic and health inequality among African Americans along the color discrimination is often similar in magnitude than what exists between whites and African Americans in the U.S.

Education:

In the year 1954, brown vs the board of education has integrated that the schools should accessible to all types of children. Currently, in the U.S., not all the funded schools are the same funded. Funds for schools are funded by the federal, state, and local governments and they can increase the role in education funding. Property taxes support more funding for education. Schools that are located at a lower level of areas are funded lower funding compared to the higher areas which are located with high income receiving greater funding for education all based on the property taxes.

The First step of the Unilever brand:

I am very happy to hear that Unilever decided to rebrand Fair and Lovely for the first time in 45 years of their production. I believe that in marketing and advertising, women of all colors are equal and it is the first step in the right direction. I think it will change the mindset of the people who think that being fair is the only way of life and I believe that this leading skin whitening brand will bring the change and spread this message to everyone. I think colorism is an issue that wants to be addressed more by the media so the people will understand the reason behind it and change their mindset.

If you think that discrimination based on color does not exist in our urban India because we have come long, then we think. India’s obsession with fair skin has increased beyond the surface. Whether the young girls growing in the village or the girl who is growing in the city, they told one thing that they were not spending more time under the sun because if they stay more time under the Sun then they might become bark. The reason for that is to save the skin tone to increase the prospects of getting the perfect Groom. They think that their wedding day snapping pictures want to be like porcelain images of the bride or a Groom. Since marriage is an ultimate goal in India, the complexion is an item that must be tick-marked on the checklist. Fairness is the daily evidence of deep-seated racism is an obsession in India. The girls spend hours and thousands of rupees on skin brightening, tightening, and lightening process. Our society thinks that being fair is an epitome for a bride or Groom.

Workplace discrimination:

A slow increase in workplace discrimination based on color or skin tone may become a trend with the growing and developing society. The complaints filed in the courts and administrative agencies again this complexion.

Discrimination occurs in many forms in age, gender, race, ethnicity, pregnancy or parenthood, skin color.
