Life begins at end of your comfort zone

Life begins at end of your comfort zone

There are two types of people in our world when it comes to a comfort zone. Some live in a comfort zone where they feel safe. Some reach outside their comfort zone. I hope to explain while stepping outside one’s comfort zone can be very beneficial and an attractive option. To start let’s talk about what the comfort zone looks like. A comfort zone is a beautiful place, but nothing ever grows there, except laziness, anxiety, and fears. Imagine something you do every day or all the time, like brushing your teeth, watching TV, reading news, or cooking breakfast. Daily activities that you’re used to won’t make you feel uneasy, uncomfortable, or anxious. Why? They belong to your comfort zone. For us, familiarity is not just comfortable but seems to be safe. That’s why we are more prone not to move out of our comfort zone.

Now imagine, you need to stop smoking or eat less chocolate or change your lifestyle. How do you feel about it? Not quite at ease, right?

I will say a comfort zone is needed in moderation, but the main thing is to not get caught in the quicksand of the comfort zone. It’s easy to do nothing, but nothing takes you anywhere.

We don’t want to lose our sense of self and what we enjoy in life. It is easy to get roped into the daily tasks of life. Wake up, go to work, pick the kids up from school, make dinner, go to the gym, go to sleep. Then do it all over again. It’s easy to get caught in this schedule and forget about yourself and what you want! Embracing change and even going out and searching down change can help keep life interesting and fun.

Live your life to the fullest. Reach outside the box and explore things you don’t think you're capable of doing/accomplishing. Look at how much this world has accomplished. All these accomplishments occurred with people stepping outside their comfort zones.

Don’t let life pass you by! Don’t look back in 20 years and say I should have done this, I should have done that! If you are in a current situation and see an opportunity you’re interested in, ask yourself how I can make this happen and figure it out!

Who do you want to be: a risk-taker or a comfort seeker?

If you were on your death bed looking back at your life, who would you want to see more—a person who took risks or one who sought comfort?

Looking back at my life, every time I worked through my fears, I took a giant leap in my spiritual journey. Living in three different countries required a lot of work, but it opened my eyes to endless opportunities. Moving from Atlanta to New York as empty nesters seemed like an insane decision, but it started my husband and me on an exciting adventure and brought new purpose to our lives. Leaving stable job years ago to create my Beacons of Change brand required a lot of trusts, but it also helped me to contribute to the world in a bigger way.
