INTRODUCTION

“Rights and duties are wedded together. The biggest rights in the world are achieved through sacrifice and service.”

The rights and the duties of the citizen go hand and hand as the worker that is working in the factory demands liberation from the oppression of the manager. Children going to school do not want any parental pressure. On the other hand, claiming of rights means that increasing the awareness in the society and responsibility towards each other, the expression is not fulfilled until and unless it is duly supplemented to the equal response of one’s duty. One who is aware of the rights that has been granted to them they can only perform the given activity precisely otherwise the person who is unaware about the same would not know the right and wrong for themselves and the people around them. And it is the balance relationship between man and society. The constitution of India covers broadly the area to protect the rights of the citizen and they have been provided with six rights as fundamental rights, these are as follows:-

  • Rights to equality

  • Right to freedom

  • Freedom of religion and culture

  • Educational rights

  • Rights against exploitation

  • Right to constitutional remedies

With fundamental rights comes fundamental duties as when rights are assigned people might take advantage of the same do the constitution provides with duties for the same. After the independence the main question that was risen was that what can the citizen of our country can do for the country? And not what country can do for the citizen. As the constitution already provided to citizen now it was the responsibility of the citizen to enact their duties towards the same. The principle of duties kept the mind of the Indian polity insulated for more that a decade and even the citizen of the country were tolerant and non- vocal towards the failure and functioning of the government to provide basic amenities to the common man. From the past 2 or 3 years some of the rights are not been granted by the government and the amendment the act is still pending the rights were right to food, right to education and right to employment are the acts still pending.

Whether there is duty towards family, friends or work or the duty that concern our country we all become ignorant of those duties. We should clean our country clean is the basic duty of all the citizen living in our country but no body has yet tried to clean the dirt on the roads and the parks. We always heard about the statement that we should always known our right but we never hear of the stamen that one should perform their duties. Most of the times the mindset of the people is that duties and responsibility are only towards the family but they often forget to perform their duties towards the country and mother earth. The citizen of our country has become so much right oriented that we forget that those rights comes with duties.

For instance, children living in the family knows that the house they live
belongs to them but have we ever taught them the duties they carry towards their parents and grandparents? The duties performed are taught since we all are child and the parents should become role models of their children by teaching them small little things about the duties for example planting tress on special occasion such as birthdays and taking grandma for a walk etc.

CONCLUSION

Duties comes with rights and responsibility even in Bhagvat Gita it is mention that duties and rights of person go hands and hand. If we are not aware of our rights the we will able to perform our duties.
