The most remarkable fact about the need for a discussion of the relationship between Science and Literature is that it needs discussion. The strangeness of the idea can be more fully elaborated if we consider it next to two other great conjunctions, Science and History and Science and Philosophy. The former, Science and History, was in existence even before Science and History acquired their present disciplinary collection.

What is then the contribution that this issue of Science & Education intends to make in such a broad and burgeoning field? As is to be expected, this is not an attempt to cover all possible themes and areas of research associated with Science and Literature. That would be a task that would require a multi-volume encyclopedia.

The intellectual wisdom of Europe was awakened by the appearance of the French scholar Francis Bacon on the literary horizon and his efforts made us aware of the ultimate real nature of the scholars of physics.  The Industrial Revolution was the first greatest gift of science in England.

Thereafter, the wonders are increasing rapidly in unimaginable forms affecting almost all aspects of human civilization.  Even literature has not remained untouched by the progress of science.  Literature is concerned with human sentiments and the progressive development of society.

The passion and loyalty of the strict laws of science, of friendship, experiences of aesthetic science, feelings of anguish and joy, wisdom and attitude, happiness and compassion, generosity, prestige, self-esteem, softness, sympathy, the multiplicity of manners, excitement, and passion, etc.  There are no values.  On the whole, science is just a mixture of simple knowledge.  But ordinary consciousness itself belongs to the very essential elements, which is outside the purview of the empty facts of physical sciences.

But at the same time, it is also related to logic which gives him liveliness and strength, in this context, thinkers prove the relationship of literature with science.  But it should not be assumed that literature is described only on this basis, social life is still far beyond the limits of the reasoning of these scholars.

Literature is a mirror of society, it is often said.  It affects all the prevalent and obsolete ideas and concepts in a time frame and tries to maintain equilibrium in them.  In contrast, science sets some goals to achieve the truth.  Its methods maintain equilibrium with each other in a very systematic way.

Finally, Andreia Guerra and Marco Braga propose a good way that science and literature can be integrated into education, via the use of the history of science. By using Umberto Eco’s novel The Name of the Rose as a pivot, they discuss how the Nature of Science can be educated by emphasizing in the historical period called “The Birth of Modern Science”. In their schema, the dialogue between the various academic disciplines is not only a desideratum but also important

But at the same time, it is also related to logic which gives him liveliness and strength, in this context, thinkers prove the relationship of literature with science.  But it should not be assumed that literature is described only on this basis, social life is still far beyond the limits of the reasoning of these scholars.
