Introduction

India is a country that consist of 50% of the population that is formed by the poor in our country having very low social economic facilities. Since the time of independence efforts have been made to improve the living standard of these people so development of the country depends mainly on two factors one of them is eradication of poverty and improving the living standard of people that has been implemented under the five-year plan.

Five- year plan for rural development comprises of the following-

  • Basic infrastructural development in rural areas such as school, colleges, drinking water etc in the regions where the condition of these facilities cannot be fulfilled

  • Providing with social services for education and health care facilities so that there is an improvement in the socio-economic standards of living.

  • Increasing schemes for rural development so that productivity and employment in agriculture sector could be enhanced.

  • Assistance to the family and individual through self help groups living below the poverty line

With this many other rural development schemes have been implemented to as to improve the situation of the farmers and the rural people. These schemes have helped to improve the status of the poverty in our country. These are the following scheme: -

NATIONAL RURAL EMPLOYMENT GUARANTEE ACT ‘

National rural development act {NAREGA} has been implemented to touch the life of the poor people directly this act aims at enhancing the livelihood security of household in rural areas they also guarantee age employment for 100 days to every house hold whose adult member is willing to do the volunteer work in unskilled manual work.

NATIONAL FOOD FOR WORK PROGRAMME

The programme was launched in November 2004 the main objective of the plan was to provide them with additional resources was implemented in most of the backward districts so as to provide them with wage employment and food security the scheme was 100% sponsored by the central authorities.

The government has also initiated with many rural infrastructure development programmes these are the following :-

BHARAT NIRMAAN

It is a time bound business programme that is initiated to look after the water supply, electricity supply, roads and the, medical facilities provided etc

Rural housing

Housing is one of the essential ingredients of humans and they having shelter is a blessing as not everyone has an access to it. In our country most of the poor families survive on the footpaths which has led to many accidents and many of them die due to the unhygienic condition of surviving the Indian government. The ministry of rural development Indira Awaas yojana is providing with pucca house to people with living with the status of below poverty line.

Telephonic connection

Telephonic connectivity is one of the essential connectivity through which people can connect to each other can restore knowledge by taking the advantage of the technology. This advantage of was not taken by the rural people but now the government has provided with connectivity in 14,183 remote areas and far flung villages are provided with the facility of connectivity of digital satellite phone terminals.

CONCLUSION

Even though the government has provided them facilities some of them are not willing to work and begging is an easy alternative for them some of them are not aware about the same. Some of them sell their houses that are provided by the government to other on rent so that they can get income and not have to work. The core problem is that even the government provides with the facilities people of our country do not know how to take an advantage of it they end up blaming the government that our country is not developing. The problem is not in policies formulated by the government for rural government the problem lays when people themselves do not want to contribute something to our country. The face of the rural areas has changed but it can become better if people start working rather begging if people stop complaining and start taking advantage of the things that are provided to them.
