We keep on saying that education is one of the most important parts of life and that it determines the state and condition of the nation or the world. The British biologist and philosopher Herbert Spencer said, “The great aim of education is not knowledge, but action.” What he meant by it was probably that the major purpose of education is to bring a change, development. That we need to apply our knowledge into action towards the benefit of society and oneself.
What is education?
It is a process of learning. Learning anything, be it a Physics law or a basic house chore: a formal education at a systematic institution just builds up the effectiveness of it, which validates and gives proof to our learning and benefits us in the future to come.
Learning tends to help, knowledge tends to teach and skills tend to get us on with our lives relatively easily. It is all the doing of education that we stand on our legs and that we can get most of the work done.
Education tends to give knowledge of things, and proper education gives the right knowledge. It is like when you read an absolutely well-written book or incredibly filmed movie and come back as a changed person, even if the change is minute'- Education does that to you. When we learn something, we tend to incorporate it in our lives and form our thoughts surrounding it, keeping ourselves informed and aware.
How education builds our thoughts
Mentally: As said above, education leads to many thoughts and our brain reacts according to it. Mental growth is one of the contributions to education.
Learning is the process of acquiring knowledge and then practice using it. Not to mention that education helps boost self-esteem and confidence, promotes psychological well being and helps us to be more productive and do our own thing. Education teaches about so many issues that we get to know how to behave during and tackle many situations. Knowledge takes us to many places, it teaches us about mental health and issues and helps us cope with it.
Socially: Another important thing that education is supposed to teach is to voice opinions and have a social life. Education also improves language and communication skills and gives an idea to propagate our inner thoughts.
Education fills us with a sense of accomplishment and fulfillment, helps creative thinking and it has the power to make anyone feel empowered. Education is a path towards privileges, and let's face it- everyone wants a comfortable life where they can go about a day without worrying about gaining basic facilities.
It earns us a social standing and awareness and teaches us basic ethics and etiquette.
Financially: One of the major reasons people go to schools and colleges is to find a stable job in the future and settle down. Education gives us knowledge and skill, and they are the ones that get the work done. These kinds of jobs are relatively safer, financially better as in, pay better, are more respected and employees are treated better. It brings in a healthier lifestyle because there is no pressure of thriving for a meal and they are most likely to get weekends off and even probably some longer vacations.
Education increases the rate of employment and decreases poverty, and it gains luxury or even fulfills most needs.
Globally: A nation's development relies on each of its citizens. The more people are educated about important issues, there will be more socio-political participation from the area and it will lead to a possibly better situation. There will be less inferiority complex and more social and economic equalities. Everyone will enjoy the same rights, there will be more power on the world parameters and will be a self-sustained and more and more developed and independent one feel.
There will be environmental sustainability as everybody will be able to enjoy the treatment and privileges or amenities. The economic chart of the country will steep higher and we will be able to overcome mostly every social evil.
Education is actually beneficial in every way. Nobody ever regrets being educated, because that is all we have, that is what we need to live, to go about our lives. The world will be a better place and the people will be closer, there will not be any distance and any barriers between people and we will be one large community helping each other and there will be mutual respect and love and everyone will stand on the same platform with the choice of taking any path they want.
We need a world where people understand sensitive topics and talk about them with respect and incorporate scientific temper in them and giving proper education is going to do it, with that added support and cooperation and the world is good to go.
