 How is Indian youth being influenced by ideas of intolerance and conservatism?

India is the fastest-growing economy today, with the home to a fifth of the world's youth. Half of India's population of 1.3 billion is below 25 years of age and a quarter is below 14 years of age. Youth is the most valuable asset of any country and is considered as its demographic future. 

The Indian youth has a more modernized pattern in lifestyle and consumption habits. But according to a survey, the Indian youth views and thoughts reflect slight inclination towards the ideas of intolerance and conservatism. 

Concerning different domains regarding youth inclination towards intolerance and conservatism are: 

 

Socially Conservatism:-

What is believed to be progressive is supported Low by young people? The psychosis of young people is like they support banned film which hurts religious sentiments. More people are pry to support death penalties and on the other hand Muslim youth are more likely to oppose it. young people are too conservative, their opinions are concerning their religion. 

Equality to men and women are ostentatious, as because the People's deeply patriarchal views says that wife must always listen to what their husband says. 


Religious aspect:- 

Indian youth are most upbeat in accordance with religious factors. About 80% prayed to God quite often and almost 45% keeps religious fast. This is the aloof psychology of Indian youth that precedes religion(47%) than science (33%) as per CSDS survey conducted in 2017. 


Marriage and caste:-

Young people are more conservative and surmise in the case of marriages. The share of people supporting inter-caste marriage is quite comely but what they preach is minuscule. Just 4% of people had an intercaste marriage and just 3% of people had an interreligious marriage. The exorbitant population had arranged marriages(84%) and only 6% of people had a love marriage, among which three out of ten were intercaste. Love marriage is more common in Dalits and Muslims. Around 52% of Indian youth say marriages are important, as a contrast with 80%, ten years ago. 

 

Reservation and jobs:-

The greatest issue before the throng Indian youth which shows conservative and intolerance was jobs there is a 20% increase in the average of educated people now. Among which only 2% have government jobs and rest 65% of them would like to have government jobs. SCs/STs and OBCs have more fuel support to government jobs and the acrid sophistry is that the upper-class Hindu youth have the lowest support for government jobs at only 30%. Youth opposes reservations for Muslims and thereby shows intolerance. 

 

Limited political support:-

About 40% of young people have no interest in politics. And it's a shocking statement which shows conservative thinking of educated youth that non-voters were more common from educated people. 

One among 10 has never voted. Talking about political parties the most popular choice of youth is BJP. Beef eating in India, beef eating is antithetical among youth from which 49% disagreed with the sentiment that "beef-eating is part of personal consumption habits" while 39% agreed to it. 

The majority of Indian youth that is 58% are non-vegetarians, why 30%, and 9% are vegetarians and egalitarians. These figures are irrepressible. 


Media exposure:- 

Indian economy is the developing country where 80% of young people own their personal mobile phones of which over half were the smartphones. 

Indian Youth Connect to the media through various platforms such as WhatsApp and Facebook. 

 

Being influenced by ideas of intolerance and conservatism is the blunder of Indian youth, illiberal orientation underscored 49% of people in favor of the death penalty, and the rest 33% side it should be dislocated. 

 

Conclusion:-

People tend to refuse changes and promote the traditional aspect of thinking, so is the case with the Indian youth, despite several religious residing harmoniously in a country like India, ideas of intolerance and conservatism has overshadowed youth. Conservatives evolved because early humans had the same brain as humans do now. We need to think also on to the parts of others to make this world a fascinating dwelling place. Indian youth should be paid ignorance to the functionality of conservatism and intolerance.
