Counselling is one of the best methods to fight against psychological issues like anxiety, depression and loneliness. A person can divert his or her mind through working, focusing on him or her self, giving the best nutrients to the body but nothing can replace the benefit of real human interaction. Mental health is a taboo subject that is being talked about by everyone these days but counselling, not just only helps in keeping the mental health in check but also helps in solving issues like personal relationship problems, difficult life events and behavioural problems. We often forget that in this growing world what is the importance of talking to family and nurturing oneself. In each and every family, one common factor missing is, while sitting on the dining table and talking to each about your daily life struggles. Having someone to talk about every issue and problems in life is a boon. But sometimes it is not possible for everyone to openly discuss the problems.

They continue to bear the struggle by themselves which leads them to get addicted to drugs, alcohol etc. If these people are not guided or supported at the right time, it leads to depression, anxiety and sometimes the death of that person. In this busy world, where everyone just focuses on being successful and mint money well, it is high time for everyone to realise that money is not everything. We all need someone to talk about our constant struggle. Many people are more comfortable talking to a trained professional, known as a counsellor. A counsellor is a stranger who listens to a person without any judgement. They guide people, who are suffering from mental illness, and give them the motivation to perform better in life.

BENEFITS OF COUNSELLING

Analyzing thoughts from a different perspective

Speaking about your problems to someone or to a counsellor helps to keep the mind happy and healthy. There are a lot of ways of keeping the mind active and happy. One of them is making a journal, that is maintaining a diary in which whatever you are facing/thinking or what you did the whole day can be noted. Rather than keeping thoughts in mind and overthinking about it, we should just let them out.

Time is set to confront the feelings

Nowadays, we are busier than we were earlier. We just focus on how to stand in this competitive world but often forget to express what we feel. Counselling is the time when a person sets a certain time to express and share what they feel without getting judged.

Couples benefitting from counselling

People in a relationship often face difficulties in adjusting and keeping their point on the same platform and end up taking divorce but some relationship requires time. The time to talk to each other with a neutral third party means that both can air their views and while they have someone to meditate and calm the situation.

Children benefitting from counselling

Some children are under the social obligation of getting good marks and even the parents, rather than understanding that life is not just surrounded by marks and grades, end up beating the child. Counselling helps these children to keep them healthy and active and stop them from taking away their life. Some children require counselling for career options as they get stuck about what to do in life, counselling opens many doors for the child to achieve the best in life.

Feel less alone with your problems

Often people are not open to sharing their feelings and struggles in life but having someone who is a complete stranger and the person who will not judge completes the feeling of loneliness and it gives a platform to the person to freely express his or her thoughts which he or she was not able to commute with their friends and family.

CONCLUSION

Nowadays, counselling is required for every human being as we generally don’t give time to our mental health. We treat our body, hair, skin but we often forget that treating mental illness is very important and talking to someone about struggles and failures in life as well. There should be classes that should be made where people can go and talk about their problems in life. This therapy will encourage them to move positively and will make them realise that they are not alone going through problems in life.
