“A day without laughter is a day wasted”. When we talk about the basic needs of life that is food, shelter, and clothes. Among all the pre-described needs, the most important one is the invisible one - laugh, it requires no routine, no hard work no hurdle to laugh but the question is: why is it still so tough?

How ironic it is that sometimes the Maths curve seems easier than the smile curve. On a daily basis of life, we almost forget ourselves, we are so indulged in doing the duties of life that the most beautiful thing on earth goes underground.

As it is evident that nowadays people are facing mental health issues, stress issues, and whatnot and they even find it difficult to deal with it, but the cure is right in front of our eyes, it's just the way we look at it. Sometimes spending time and laughing with our family and friends heals most of our issues. But finding that particular time period has been taken for granted by this particular generation and maybe that’s one of the reasons why this generation faces most awakening difficulties of life that weren't noticeable before.

Our environment teaches us a plethora of things. It's us who create our own environment, it is not pre-created. It has been said that if we are happy we find our surroundings to be simultaneously happy and ultimately happiness leads to optimism and optimism leads to tranquility. So it’s a process and the first step is what that matters.

Laughing makes our hearts stronger. It helps in decreasing the circulation of stress hormones which help in relaxing the body. Stressed individuals can never work efficiently, happiness acts as the easiest way to release tension, relax, and naturally improve the function of our blood vessels to increase blood flow. All of this protects our heart by lowering the risk of heart attack or other cardiovascular problems. It reduces blood sugar levels, increasing glucose tolerance in diabetics and non-diabetics alike which helps in maintaining good cholesterol levels and reduces artery inflammation. It burns calories – laughter is sometimes referred to as “inner jogging”. A hearty laugh gives the muscles of the face, chest, shoulders, stomach, and diaphragms a good workout.

"Health is wealth."  But sometimes, emotional and physical changes in life deteriorate healthy lifestyles and the medicine that is in front of our eyes is shut behind the curtains- laughing, the strongest medicine. It draws people together in a way that triggers healthy physical and emotional changes in the body. Laughter strengthens our immune system, boosts mood, diminishes pain, and protects us from the damaging effects of stress. It helps in releasing tension and tolerating discomfort. Nothing works faster or more dependably to bring our mind and body back into balance than a good laugh. A little bit of humor in life adds hope even in the darkest of places. It is the biggest antidote against a stressful situation.

Embracing the little things in life and finding ways to laugh help us win in every situation, the quality of life we are living is improved. Laughing helps in strengthening social relationships. It boosts our mood and helps us laugh joyously. When we are working in a group, it enhances teamwork by maintaining a humorous relation. It majorly helps in diffusing conflicts and promotes bonding by building interpersonal relationships. Laughing makes us attractive, the ones who laugh the most are liked by the most.

Here are some ways to bring more humor and laughter into our life:

1. Contagious Smile: Smiling is the beginning of laughter. Like laughter, it’s contagious. Smiling while looking at someone or in an appreciating situation helps us to become a better person.

2. Counting blessings: Count all the blessings in life instead of focusing on the negative aspects. Search for happiness in little things. Count all the positive things in life and distance from negative

ones.

3. Spend time with fun and playful people: These are people who laugh easily, both at themselves and at life’s absurdities, and who routinely find humor in everyday events. As they say, make wise friends and you will be wise.

4. Search for humor: Humour is mankind‘s greatest blessing. Finding humor in every stressful situation will make the situation easy to deal with. It’s like a rainbow which should be added on a daily basis in life to make it colorful.

5. Laugh at yourself: Share your embarrassing moments, absurdities of life.

6. Surround yourself with reminders to lighten up: Keep a toy on your desk or in your car. Put up a funny poster in your office. Choose a computer screensaver that makes you laugh. Frame photos of you and your family having fun and do everything that would make you happy.

7. Perspective: Many things are beyond our control, so make the best of a situation. Change the perception towards life and it will change you. Ask yourself once, “when was the last time you had a good laugh?”

8. Support each other: No amount of laughter is worth it if it's fake. We are social animals and we need people who understand and support us. Be there for each other, help each other out, and listen to each other. Do fun things with each other, find a company that solaces you, be the one friend that's always there for their friend. That is the first and major step towards a healthy lifestyle.

Life is short and irreversible. Let's not have or let anyone else have a life that's not lightened up by happiness. Let's make people laugh and let's laugh with them. Let's make the most of the life that we've got and let's communicate when we're hit by the truck of problems.
