India Land of Diversity

India is diverse in nature the variations in music, languages, religion and clothes, which makes it a unique land to live. The diversity of India’s different language can be understood by the fact that the Indian currency consist of 15 different languages, besides Hindi and English printed on it, most of the sign boards are written in Hindi or English, but sometimes in the native languages too. India contains astonishing variety of geographical features stretches from eternally frozen glaciers to deep rain forest. Over the years geographical, historical and religious influences has waved the colourful fabric of Indian culture. It has different languages and 900 dialects. Hindi is the national language and English is extensively used in education and business.

India being democratic in nature, gives right to all its citizens, to propagate any religion and learn any language they desire and also convert their religion, based upon their choice.


CULTURAL DIVERSITY IN INDIA:-
Diversity in culture means way people live. It consists of how they dress up, what food to eat, which language to speak and which religion to follow. There is immense cultural blend in our country belonging to diverse religion, caste, region and follow their own customs.
Urban civilization pre-existed in country, during the Indus valley civilization and thus making India’s cultural, the oldest in the world. Thus, India is the only country where people Co-exists in unity, having a vast cultural background.


CULTURAL GESTURES AND VALUE:-
India culture is rich in values and gestures. The younger one’s in the family is taught to respect their elders, by greeting them daily, after waking up and before sleeping or the younger one, starting some new business seeks the blessing of his elder’s in the family, which is the sort of tradition followed in our country, which also reflects the immense rich culture and gratitude we showcase for our loved ones.

NAMASTE - Is one of gesture, greeting the other person. It means ‘hello’ in English by joining their hands.

YOGA AND MEDITATION -One of the famous exercises, done all over the world to keep the mental health and physical health in shape.

This is another ancient practice, which originated in India, and is followed all over the world.

ATITHI DEVO BHAVA- In India the guest that comes to one place is treated equal to God.
They are treated with good food and with respect.


DIVERSITY IN RELIGION IN INDIA:-

India has four main religion –

Hinduism- one of the oldest religions of the country, that has prevailed in the country since ancient times.
ISLAM- Religion that is followed by the Muslims in our society. It has a prominent impact on the India society.
CHRISTIANITY-ST. Thomas is one of the people, who is responsible for spread of Christianity, in India.
JAINISM – was founded by Mahavira.
BUDDHISM- was founded by Gautama Buddha.
SIKHISM- was founded by Guru Nanak Dev Ji.

Many religions co-exist in India people of different religion live together with great peace.

There are also some religions, other than Hindu, Sikh, Christian, Jainism and Islam, that are considered to be minorities in India, including Abrahamic religion.


DIVERSITY IN LANGUAGES IN INDIA:-
India is a centre of numerous languages and originating place of the oldest language - Sanskrit. Hindi language is commonly spoken throughout subcontinent with variation in region.

There are 29 states in India and different states has different languages and custom’s, each area consists of a different language and people speak in their mother language.

The prominent languages that co-exist in India other than Hindi and English are -
Bengali, Tamil, Telugu, Marathi, Punjabi, Urdu, Gujarati and many more.


DIVERSITY IN FAMILY SYSTEM IN INDIA:-
The structure of the family in India is strong, stable and flexible. Presently, both joint and nuclear family prevails in India and both are equally important.
There is a specified rule in the families of India that they should eat together and talk about their daily routine.


DIVERSITY IN FESTIVALS IN INDIA:-
There are different types of festival celebrated in India, and every festival, be it of any religion, is celebrated with joy and happiness.

Different people celebrate different festivals on accordance to their tradition and customs.

Diwali, Holi, Dussehra, Eid, Guru Nanak Jayanti and many other festivals are celebrated with joy and happiness, even the people belonging to different religion, enjoy the festival together, which indicates our unity in diversity. Young generation also celebrates Mother’s Day, Father’s Day etc
