TECHNOLOGY ADVANCEMENT
TECHNOLOGY ADVANCEMENT
( By Pragya Kumar )
It was a June afternoon when the sun's
scorching heat was sucking the hydration out of my body. The thin stream of
sweats was flowing down my forehead. The sweet jasmine cologne of mine got
mixed with the moisture of my skin and exhibited a distinct aroma. After scrambling in the sun for hours I eloped to
the shade of my building. I stood on the ground floor calling for the
elevator. After 2-3 wage attempts, the guard informed me that the elevators
aren't working. Agitated, I climbed the flight of stairs to the fifth floor,
cursing every step. I unlocked the
apartment to find that there was a power cut. I threw my bag on the couch and
pulled out my phone and the screen beeped with a 3 percent battery. It was a day
full of regret and bad luck. I felt like putting my head through a wall. What is life without all these technologies?
I wonder what would have happened if Benjamin Franklin didn't discover
electricity or if nobody had the brains to understand quantum mechanics, we
would never have had the pleasures of an elevator. And smartphones would be oblivion.
Well, they say, "necessity is the mother
of invention" and seeing myself laying on this couch uselessly makes me
believe it. Human life has always been a
roller coaster ride. Beginning from the
stone age to date the human brain cells bring out the best of their ability.
We walked on this earth submerging into nature but now we rule with all kinds
of facilities that we develop.
Electricity was one such invention which
revolutionized mankind. The PROMETHEUS
act of gifting fire to mankind was prohibited by ZEUS. He was not only questioned but also
exemplary bound to death every day. If ZEUS today survived in this generation, we
would have been confined to his dictatorship and Franklin would have been held
up in some cave away devoid of all human pursuits. The Discovery of electricity
enhanced the scope of the invention. It brought human brains to work. It fueled the
generation with all sorts of benefits and made them think beyond ordinary.
The science reached its culmination with the
discovery of LASER in 1960. It was not only a discovery of electronics but also
the discovery of medical technology. With a streak of wavelength, it transformed
life. Beyond the mere comprehension of the colloquial. I never had the brains
for understanding science. Quantum
physics ended upbringing cold sweats to me.
I was afraid of studying.
But as an observer to the surroundings full of such inventions, I believe
we owe a big amount to science. Beginning from switching on a small light
button till grabbing a cold drink directly from the refrigerator, we are
neighbored by all kinds of science. Which reminds me of the unearthing of
COMPUTER. An investment made by Charles Barbagge that just blew our wits apart. An amalgamation of wires perfectly
encapsulated within the fiber body. It was the invention of a century which
to date surprises us. The zeal of
humans to make something new everyday sustains a world of development. According
to a report of October 2019 of the urban hub, "it was announced that a quantum
computer, which uses quantum mechanics to massively increase processing power,
solved a problem that a standard computer couldn’t in just 200 seconds".
Moving onto an essential invention in the
field of biology was THE STEM CELLS.
Scientists studied the stem cells of a mouse which led to the discovery
of stem cells in 1998.
What is a stem cell?
Stem cells are special human cells that have
the ability to develop themselves into different types of cells. They can range from being a muscle cell to a
brain cell. It is a belief that in the coming year's stem cell-based therapies
can help to cure paralysis and Alzheimer's.
Biotech foresaw the cure of diseases through
genes in the human genome and mapped the human genome project in 2003.
Mechanical
marked the elevation of their projects by the manufacturing of
automobiles. Driving cars, trains, airplanes, and buses. The transportation
was brought to ease. The communication was sorted. Life's core was rectified.
Apart from this, the most dynamic invention was the invention of the smartphone.
It was a display of human creativity. It
brought the whole world to your palms with just mere touch on the screen. It
never disappointed us rather surprised us with many advanced features every day.
Writing
this article has made me realize the value of technology in our life. The brim
of the invention that we as human beings also misuse. We never know the perks of
having all these technologies with us and we just go around cursing them when
they stop responding. In the course of time, I believe many technological
advancements are lined of humans to enjoy.
