It is rightly said that a life lived for others is worth living as when you work for others in any possible way, you are not returned empty-handed but with a bag full of million-dollar smiles, thousand of blessings and pure love which is more valuable than anything and volunteering is one such activity wherein a person offers himself physically, mentally, emotionally or financially for a service.

According to a report from the ministry of statistics, 1.5% of India's population volunteer for some activity or the other. Goonj, Help age India, Childline India, PETA are few of the NGOs working selflessly for the welfare of people and animals and it is also started by the CBI that India has at least 31lakh NGOs - more than double the number of schools in the country and 250 times the number of government hospitals. Volunteering not just uplift the underprivileged people but it also helps a volunteer to grow in numerous ways which makes it more worthwhile. Underprivileged are provided with services like food, clothing, education, and volunteers are provided with a medium to develop themselves physically and mentally.

But volunteering helps you build your self-esteem which has a long term effect which is reflected in one's personality.

(10) A person becomes committed and senses its responsibilities towards society.

(11) While volunteering, you learn to live happily in every circumstance as you've seen people with no or fewer clothes that too torn ones, crying for one-time food, begging for daily needs but you've got everything so you learn to stay happy with whatever you have.

One such NGO is "LIGHT THE LITERACY" where students from different colleges collectively work for the welfare of underprivileged students. Its main motive is to educate the children and now they teach 800-1000 students daily in different locations of Ghaziabad, Noida, Greater Noida, and Bahraich. Volunteers also organized a sports event namely "UMANG" to inculcate the sports spirit among students. They also conducted a campaign "SHE FOR SHE" to aware people regarding menstrual hygiene. Apart from studies, they also celebrate festivals together. In brief, organizing campaigns, educating students, and celebrating festivals not only makes the people happy and cheerful but it also helps volunteers in some or the other way and the best part is the smile on people that are left behind because of your little efforts. volunteering gives you immense joy and pleasure. It gives you a sense of satisfaction when you see someone happy and growing in life with your efforts. Devoting your time for volunteering is worth it. It gives you long term benefits and develops your personality.
